Salus offers OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY & RECREOLOGY SERVICES to assist tenants to be successful in their housing and to move on in their recovery process.

Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapist works individually with tenants on issues that they identify as barriers to their recovery and to their housing satisfaction. These could include practical difficulties, such as budgeting and keeping their apartment clean, or other issues such as anger management and coping with stress. The occupational therapist also runs groups with the community developers on various topics, such as social skills, apartment readiness, self esteem, etc… They also act as a resource staff.

Recreology

The recreologist works one to one with tenants to assist them in developing meaningful leisure pursuits. The recreologist does recreation assessments and links tenants with activities of interest available in the wider community. They also run recreational activities in the resource centres along with the community developers and organize low cost outings and visits to places of interest. They help to promote a healthy lifestyle.
