 Overview of Service Ottawa Salus Group Homes are houses which offer supported communal living environments for adults who have a severe and persistent mental illness. Programs are designed to provide the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for living independently in the community.

Private bedrooms
communal areas include: living room, dining room, kitchen, front & back yard.
3 convenient locations close to shopping and buses: Bells Corners, Centertown, & New Edinburgh.
Who We Serve Salus Group Homes serve adults, 16 years and older, living in the Ottawa area who:
are recovering from a mental illness
are willing to live a drug & alcohol free life style
are willing and able to live in a communal living environment and participate in household duties
have the ability to take medication independently
have portable and flexible community support
Goals of Service The goals of the Salus Group Homes are:

increased skills and capabilities
success and satisfaction in future environments
Services We Provide The services provided are based on a psycho social and recovery approach with client choice and voluntary participation as key ingredients. The services include:
Counseling & Support Services:
illness management
crisis intervention & prevention
conflict resolution
goal setting / planning
linking to community resources
problem solving
decision making
Life Skills Teaching:
chore maintenance
cooking
budgeting (groceries, social activities, day to day functioning)
proper hygiene
healthy lifestyle habits
Recreation Programs:
agency wide recreation activities
in-house recreation / social programs specific to group home residents.
clients are encouraged to attend organized activities for a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week.
Co-Ed Group Home Support Staff The group homes are staffed 30 to 35 hours per week during business hours. In addition, residents can access Salus staff after business hours through the on-call service.
Women Only Group Home Support Staff This group homes is staffed 8 to 9 hours per week during business hours. In addition, residents can access Salus staff after business hours through the on-call service.
